Bollox

Dealing with emotions, is that still something we’re capable of? Increasingly, it seems not. A growing number of young people are experiencing depression and struggling with anxiety, making it all the more important to teach children how to navigate their emotional lives. But isn’t that often dismissed as boring or overly mild? Not in the VPRO Jeugd programme Bollox. In this show, furious kids craft compelling punk music with a message. In each episode, Merel Pauw joins a child who is angry about something, and together with a Dutch punk band, they transform that anger into a song. Bollox has won the Dutch Directors Guild Award for Best TV Productions 2026 and the Cinekid Lion for Most Original Series 2026. Bollox was nominated for the Prix Jeunesse and was selected for the Gouden Televisierring Jeugd. The episode 'Have Respect' was included in the NFF educational programme and was a finalist for the Japan Prize 2026.
